Fare O Matic

As I was walking down the street in Annapolis, Maryland I saw these old Duncan Fine O Meters mounted below several of the parking meters. I’m not sure how old they are but it seems to be an old way of paying your parking fines. The last time I got a parking ticket, I paid online and knew instantly that it was taken care of. It’s pretty amazing how far technology has come.

I’d like to look into these a little more and see when they were around, how they were used, etc. If anyone knows anything about these or has first hand experience using one, I’d like to hear about it in the comments!

As far as this shot goes, I took the picture towards the end of the day. I cropped out a bit around the edges to remove a car from the picture and bring the focus in tighter on the meter itself. I increased saturation, sharpness, and blacks to give more “feel” to the meter. I blurred a little around the photo to make the meter stand out even more. Lastly, I added an ever so slight vignette to decrease some of the brightness and shine from around the edges. All in all, I think I’m starting to do marginally better after processing a couple thousand photos!
